Moxie In The Moments

Living Bliss - Over The Rainbow

In middle of a rare story time for fifth graders, the school nurse called all the girls in the class to her office. The boys pointed and whispered trying to figure out what we had done wrong or what they were missing.

Just as unsure we shuffled slowly into the tiny office to await our fate.

German Measles shots.

As the nurse prepared a needle she asked, “who’s going first?’ Squeals and gasps rang out as the faint of heart squeezed tightly into the furthest corner of the room.

Realizing nobody was moving, and the nurse wasn’t budging, I stepped forward, pushed up my sleeve, and presented my exposed shoulder – “I will.”

A bit of moxie shown then thankfully reappeared when much more was needed later – mom’s lost battle with cancer, leaving my job, dad’s unexpected death, a short notice move, and most recently, maneuvering through our intersection points with the Southern Alberta floods.

Window Of Fire
Life happens.

At the most inconvenient times.

Curve balls are thrown when prepared for the fast pitch.

Life goes on regardless and things must still get done. Whether you want to or not.

Choices cannot be made for the past, leaving only those facing forward.

And the one decision underpinning the rest is to decide who you are being.

In every moment if need be.

One path adds to the struggle and the other Lightens the load.

Frustration and anger leads to more festering and a collapsing in. Optimism and vigor acts as an attracting force and creates openings for others to step in.

Ups and downs are bound to happen, but the overall direction is steered by who you are.

The decision is within us to make.

Living Bliss is a jump-in-with-both-feet look at where Life bumps into the everyday – whether at work, play or times in between. Bliss knows no separation in the end. From a deeper dive into the ordinary pops forward the extraordinary life we search for – and has been there waiting for us to be.
