Mind Your Ps and Qs

Living Bliss ~ Frost Field

“Mind your Ps and Qs.”

Hadn’t heard that expression in a very long time.

But there it was, flashed across my thoughts like sub-titles translating the language of awareness.

A week full of wonderings through mindfulness kept following the same path.

Visions framed by feathered blurred edges flowed with peace and ease.

Soft background music sent all nearby clatter to some foreign land.

Perfect lighting directed attention to what needed seeing.

All the time in the world abounds to watch everything auto-focus into crystal clear.

Vvvrrrrrrriiiippppp.

Reality check.

What movie are we watching?

We all know Life doesn’t happen this way.

“Mind your Ps and Qs.”

Ahh, yes.

Being With Each Other

Mindfulness is not intended to be a block-buster production.

Or take copious amounts of precious time.

A little extra attention from the observer’s perspective goes a very long way.

And acknowledges the little things so easily overlooked.

Out of your mind isn’t such a crazy way to be.

The second set of eyes brings awareness who we are being with each other.

And ourselves.

Mindfulness of the moment helps us to:

Give thanks for the little things which all too easily fade into normal.

Recognize others for what they do for us, especially those little things.

Don’t take things personally when somebody else is having a bad day.

Admit when we’re frustrated or angry and take ownership of our actions,  including

Be kind to others so they don’t take on our bad day too.

Truly listen rather than only hearing, or worse yet, tuning out what another is saying.

Tune in to how others are feeling, where they’re coming from and see the bigger picture.

Shift a situation away from heading into the ditch.

Make a difference in somebody’s day.

When you’re being mindful, what changes do you see in yourself, in others and as you move through your day?

Living Bliss is a jump-in-with-both-feet look at where Life bumps into the everyday – whether at work, play or times in between. Bliss knows no separation in the end. From a deeper dive into the ordinary pops forward the extraordinary life we search for – and has been there waiting for us to be.

  1. Hello Sarah & Lorraine! I love all the advice you have shared in this post, when I noticed the title Mind Your Ps and Qs I had no idea how this would be related to Mindfulness but you sure did it! Great Job Thanks for sharing! Chery :))

    • Sorry Kathy Please change your name with Sarah’s above! I just came from her blog and I guess I got confused after reading it over I noticed Opps. It has been one of those days.. Chery :))

    • LOL – must admit Chery I too was wondering where this was going when Ps and Qs came up. But when things show up like that I’ve learned it’s best to go with the flow and see where things end up.
