Say the word Change and immediately you can’t help but to consider it.
I want this or that to change.
I don’t want this or that to change.
Always we believe we have some sort of control over it happening or not. The truth is that no matter our intentions or actions, change is always coming. Do I believe we can have impact on those changes? Absolutely! However, change is never a fixed position. wherever you are, wherever you are going you can always count on things changing.
It would serve us to take our lead from the tree. Always changing never resisting, the tree knows the next change is always coming. What looks like the end is really just the beginning.
January considers this in human terms:
Broken is what I bring
by January Handl
I’ve been faking it…
 Broken is what I bring.
 I’ve even fooled myself
 several times,
 many, many times
into thinking I was done, fixed, whole,
 thinking that the process stops,
or I’ve reached a goal… an end point.
Today I remember that the end
 point on this planet…
 on this plane of existence
 is when I stop…when I end…
 when I die.
The in-between time from birth to death
 is the roll-up- the –sleeves-time
 of work
 rest
 more work
 rest
 play, create, love love love
 rest
 and more work.
 And still…
I must bring broken to the table
because that is all I will have to offer, ever.
When I offer that with truth, with humility
with utter surrender to the reality of this life
I can offer you the same relief,
 the same kindness…
We bring broken to the table,
and our gift to one another
 is to accept that,
 to love that
 to help each other
 live that
until we all can offer each other
 the same broken
 and beautiful gift:
Acceptance, forgiveness, humor
 and
 LOVE
 of our beautiful, our bountiful
 Broken-ness
 as the essence,
 as the essential,
 as the pathway
 home.
Yes BROKEN is all we ever bring! Whenever we delude ourselves into thinking that we’ve arrived or that things will ever be complete, change is there in the wings waiting to spring. BUT, if we can embrace and accept all “of our beautiful, our bountiful Broken-ness” change can be met with sweet joyful expectation.
The choice is yours.
It is coming anyway, just ask the tree.
