The Soul Reminder Of Life

Living Bliss - Head In The Clouds

We rarely eat out.

Vegetarian, food sensitivities, cost and hard to match home-cooking makes eating in an easy decision.

The one thing that can’t be beat, however, is a special ‘Harvest Gold’ burger discovered 10+ years ago at a small hamburger joint.

Once introduced, even friends order this veggie version over the option of beef.

At best, a bi-weekly errand run in the city can be arranged to drop by for a meal.

At worst, months go by without the opportunity to stop in.

No matter how long since the last one, the clouds part and the angels sing with every first bite.

Each morsel is an experience worth chewing a hundred times.

Cell by cell the body opens up and soaks in the divineness of something greater than it appears.

This burger does so much more than satisfy the stomach.

Soul Reminders

I have that same cellular soul experience when I hear the acoustic guitar.

Or soak in the silence of a summer evening watching clouds and sunsets transform the sky. A silence so clear you can hear the air swoosh and wing flap of geese flying overhead.

Even the sound of cat’s lapping breakfast in unison or long, slow belly rubs (theirs, not mine) shift time and space into some grander place.

Gently falling snow, star gazing at night, getting lost in a Lee Valley Tools catalog put me there too.

These moments feel like deep breaths of crisp morning air –

cleansing, opening and nourishing the soul.

But then I wonder –

does a soul really need nourishment?

I have to think not.

We don’t nourish our souls, our souls to nourish us.

All those glimpses are meant to make us pause, pay attention, and stay connected to what is really real.

When bogged down in the day-to-day, our soul find ways to fill our hearts and face us forward again.

The next time you catch your breath, open up and see past,

know you’ve been given a soul reminder that Life is a constant, not the exception

and there is much more awaiting you,

ready or not.

Living Bliss is a jump-in-with-both-feet look at where Life bumps into the everyday – whether at work, play or times in between. Bliss knows no separation in the end. From a deeper dive into the ordinary pops forward the extraordinary life we search for – and has been there waiting for us to be.

  1. Lorraine, I’ve never felt like that when eating a burger, but I quite often feel like that when eating other things, mostly sweet though:-) I must say, I prefer veggie burgers over meat ones, even though I’m not vegetarian.
Hope you get to eat those burgers frequently, since they make you feel that good!

  2. Hi Lorraine,
thank you for sharing your experiences which (what I would call) connect you with Source Energy.

It is nice to be able to have an enjoyable experience when you are eating out. I can relate to not eating out often for the same experience. The other day I felt like a greek salad with cucumber, tomatoes, feta and avocado unfortunalely there is no place nearby that serves that.

Music and dancing can connect me with Source Energy and creating images on GIMP does too.

I appreciate your lovely post and photos!

    • I can taste that Greek salad in my cells right now too! Oh the many ways our Source Energy can call on us to express Life. Thanks Yorinda for sharing and connecting us all into more experiences of being enlivened.
