A few days ago I met a man downtown. I was on my way to buy a coffee and he was sleeping on a bench. I went in and ordered my coffee and indulged myself in a treat which I ate inside. I decided to take my coffee outside to sit in the sun and finding the bench empty, I made myself comfortable. A few minutes later he came out of a small fruit market, carrying a clear plastic bag with some veggies inside. He saw me sitting there and asked me if he could sit on the bench with me. I told him yes. I asked him how he was and he with tears in his eyes told me that the woman in the fruit market was special-she has such a heart he said as he clasped his hands over his heart. She didn’t have to give me anything but she did and he put his hands in his head and cried. I put my hand on his shoulder and said to him what a wonderful gift she is to you. He looked up and smiled and said “Yes a gift and you are a gift too.” I looked inquisitively at him and he said “You invited me to sit with you. That was a gift too. Do you believe in God?” he asked me.
And so our conversation began. He was a man looking for companionship and feeling lost in the world. His story was fractured but I had the sense of a story that was troubled. “I have made many mistakes.” he told me. I replied “We all do, that is how we remember who we are.”
“Do you believe in God?” he asked me again. I replied “Yes, I do.”
“Why do you believe in God?” he asked.
“How can I not?” I replied. “I look around and I see God. I look at you and I see God.”
He put his head in his hands and cried a few tears again. “Who are you? he asked.
“My name is Linda and what is yours?” I replied.
“My name is Archie Bunker!” We both laughed.
As people passed he would blow kisses and wave at them. Sometimes they said hello and sometimes they averted their eyes. We continued our conversation. I offered him some money. “Why” he asked and I replied “Because I can, why not?”
“I didn’t ask, I can’t take it, I will just give it away to someone else.” he said
I told him “It is yours now and you can do with it whatever you want.”
“Do you believe in God” he asked again.
Yes I do. I won’t relay the whole conversation. It was a bit of a puzzle, a gentle dance taking place between us. But I knew this; I was in the presence of God, as I sat with him, I could feel it. I allowed the energy to surround us and we became two spirits playing at being human on planet earth. I was blessed.
Community can be found everywhere and anywhere, even on sidewalk bench.
The Group is nodding their collective heads in agreement. The community is planet earth. You are all gods playing a game to help you remember who you are. Each of you are angels for others. You choose how you do that and in what way you do that. Some days you forget yourselves and avert your eyes at those that are different and other times you step into your magnificence and see the light in another. When you do that you reflect back to them their essence. You help them to remember who they are. You also help yourself to remember who you are.
The times are shifting and changing and it can be challenging to remember. So many of you are caught up in fear and cannot see beyond it. But whenever each of you takes the small step to recognize an angel in front of you, you grow heaven on earth. You expand the universes! It is a grand ripple effect.
If you did not have others as contrast, you would never discover the gifts that you have within yourselves. You would never discover the forgotten ones that are angels in disguise. When so much has been stripped down from them, they can be closest to God, Source, Universe, whatever name you choose to give this grand and loving intelligence that holds all of the universes together. In that moment they have no distractions and with their soothing of their fears by various means, they have peeled a layer of fear away and find themselves feeling love, in a way many of you do not. This does not happen all the time, but it happens. We see it.
Some of them are stepping closer to love and if you are very lucky you can be a part of their story. You can actively be a part of the community of man. You can help shift everything. You give a gift to yourself and to others.
Community is all around you on planet earth. It is found on your Internet, in your towns and cities and in your coming together as families both extended and by birth. Sometimes common ground draws you together and sometimes your humanity draws you together. We enjoy to see the light that shines when you gather in joy, love and in service to each other.
From our perspective there is more light than shadow on your planet and there is more love than fear. You are the great adventurers exploring being human in the community of spirit playing at being human. It is a wonderful thing to witness.
We have to put on our sunglasses to shield ourselves from your magnificent light-well if we had sunglasses which we don’t-but you understand our meaning.
Each of you are magnificent beings of light and love and because you are were born to love. It is who you are.
And all beings of love always….
