The Bliss Of Making Your Brain Hurt

Living Bliss Under An Angel Sky

Our innate curiosity is part of the human experience and will not be denied.

Learning is literally wired into our wellness, youthfulness and longevity.

Acquiring a new language, playing music, investigating a new subject, trying our hand at a new skill all create new pathways in the brain and improves your working memory capacity.

For as much as you’d like to stop – when your brain hurts, keep going!!

Of most importance is remembering the key is just simply trying, not attaining a certain level of proficiency or perfection.

And therein lies a key to living a bliss full life –

experiencing, exploring, expanding and enJoying.

Learning with the intent of mastering is mind based and rife with expectations, standards and approval.

Dare I mention the C-word – control?

The goal is to reach a particular known end result where you can declare you’ve arrived.

Set Off Into The Mystery

But the problem with arrivals and ends is a stop to the journey.

The measure has been reached so the learning can end.

Unless the incentive of a new target is found.

On the other hand, learning with the intent of simply learning is an unfolding journey without end.

Everything qualifies.

Nothing is failure.

You can start, stop and come back any time you want guilt-free.

The pressure is off.

This is the world of possibilities and bringing the unknown to Light.

This is a relatively new way of learning  –

to decide what you really are really drawn to explore at any point in time, not what course someone lays out for you or because you have to pass certain requirements.

And to learn motivated by the expression of who we are instead of external stresses of deadlines, degrees and perceptions of others (or ourselves).

Don’t get me wrong, there is a place for attaining levels of proficiency of skills.

There’s a particular level of care, attention and self-satisfaction in a job well-done.

And I really want the surgeon, plumber and roofer to be really good at what they do.

Not everything requires that level of rigor though.

The difference comes in knowing the motivation behind learning and what direction you end up heading.

I have to learn this about learning when it comes to playing an instrument and engaging in art such as painting.

Straight into my head go I upon picking up a guitar or paint brush.

I miss out on the bliss of just learning, exploring and seeing where I might end up by expecting how the music should sound or what the picture needs to look like.

I end up in smaller self-imposed box than breaking down barriers.

All because I forget learning is an unfolding expression of something deeper than an end I need to attain.

Wednesdays are your personal invitation to look into the everyday, as well as the philosophical, in order to see where we’re already Living Bliss. As the Life we seek becomes part of our normal day-to-day, we can easily forget we’ve found ourselves as we work, live and play.
