Surprise! I’m retiring Bliss Habits…

Ha! Well as any regular readers of Bliss Habits know, this isn’t entirely true. What is true is I am introducing a whole new group of Bliss Habits to explore, which means I will be retiring the original thirteen, at least for now! Beginning June 4th I will be delving into 13 new habits and today I am introducing the new line up. I must tell you, it was just as difficult coming up with this next group as it was coming up with my original thirteen. There are so many worthy topics! Which means I’ll probably be doing this all over again in the future! Bliss is so diverse and its delights so worthy of pursuit I’m certain I’ll be interested in exploring many of its nuances for years to come.

Now, with out further ado here are the newest habits of bliss:

What may not have been clear in my previous iteration of topics, the definitions I choose to follow in this game are very important. They provide the context in which I am playing. As an example, the cookie cutter definition of “snark” may have more then a hint of irritability and possibly even meanness but when used in the way I intend “Giving a voice to the the feisty, straight talking beacon of authenticity within us” it evokes an entirely different game and hopefully a challenge worth taking on.

Thirteen Habits of Bliss

Kindness – Having, showing, or proceeding from benevolence and compassion in ones behavior; without cruelty

Wonder – To think or speculate curiously. The ability to see the miraculous and remarkable in everything.

Growth – Activities that enhance quality of life, develop talents, and increase the potential for success and happiness

Trust – To expect with confidence. Belief that you can depend on another and allowing yourself to be vulnerable.

Love – A feeling of deep affection and personal attachment. Affectionate concern for the well-being of others.

Resolve – To come to a definite or earnest decision about; determination to follow a purpose or intent.

Simplicity – A lifestyle of mindfulness; living a more sustainable, gratifying, and spiritually connected existence.

Snark – Giving a voice to the the feisty, straight talking beacon of authenticity within us.

Hope – The feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best.

Presence – Living in the moment with full awareness; being in the Now.

Thrift – The delight and joy of frugal wisdom, the ability to thrive with less.

Flexibility – The ability to adapt and generate creative options rather than to obsess, worry and control.

Fun – An exercise or activity for amusement or recreation. Finding enjoyment and playfulness.

The new habit cycle will kick off as of June 4th when we begin with Kindness.  I do hope you’ll join us. I also would love to hear your thoughts on the new list. Looking forward to one in particular? Can’t imagine how one or more could ever be blissful? I’d love to hear it all!

These are great Kathy! I am looking forward to all. They feel very organic and living in the now aspects of bliss. Love ’em!

  2. Just found you a few days ago…love the whole idea/concept of your blog! I have been working on finding and appreciating and dwelling in bliss/joy/happiness more in the past few years. Lover of all things that bring even fleeting moments of bliss.

I love the new list and since I’m new here I’m excited that a new chapter is starting soon. I love the word SNARKY – so I was thrilled to see snark on the list. And I define it pretty close to your definition. Feisty is another favorite word and trait (I come from a long line of feisty women and have given birth to two more – and my grandbaby is feisty too) I admire. Snarky and Feisty to me are perfectly summed up with the being authentic like you mention with a dash of sarcasm…but never mean or hurtful. Witty and fun snarkiness is a wonderful thing. Wow, I hard more to say than I thought. lol

Love it Sandi! I just knew Snark would be a perfect fit for my moxilicious friend! I’ll definitely be calling on your wisdom!! Thank you for offering!!

    • Kathy says:

LOL Teresa, I’m glad I kept it too!! Had a couple minutes of “is it really blissful?” doubting but when I think about how the word itself makes me feel I KNEW it was a keeper!

What a great list Kathy. I can see that some will be harder to get a handle on than others – Kindness and Growth for example, while others (Snark and Trust) will be harder for me. Looking forward toworking through them all though!

  4. Looking forward to your new direction! I love this definition of trust, “To expect with confidence”, as I often think about how to define trust. I was already looking forward to more snark!

  5. I love the new habits and the associated definitions! Although one of my strongest virtues is love, I’m resonating with growth, wonder and kindness to the nth degree. Nice job Kathy!!!
