Never Before

Living Bliss - Head In The Clouds

No tales to be found here of high sea adventures, jumping off tall buildings or screaming down mountains on either bike or ski.

Not going to happen. Likely ever.

But I won’t say never. A chain of events can all too easily be unleashed with the utterance of that five letter word.

Even my day filled with never-befores has fizzled.

The idea, however, retains merit.

And the envisioning was worthwhile.

Adventure doesn’t have to be large or loud.

Breaking from the old, seeing what’s here and being anew contains as many thrills.

Take for instance, when my nephew and niece were young. Opening day at Heritage Park was eagerly awaited every May.

We could easily walk through their gates forty times in a summer.

Quite a departure from hating the annual all day marathon I endured as a kid when relatives came to town.

Each trip of the forty was a purposeful adventure.

New routes were found to connect our favourite spots.

Different exhibits were explored in more detail.

And sometimes we just stopped to smell the roses. Or more likely the cinnamon buns.

Journeys In Mind

Life’s like that too.

Chock full of surprises and wonder waiting to be dis covered right under our noses.

By seeing differently.

By taking the time to look.

By asking what else, what’s here, what could be.

Hence the fizzled day was lost only by external measure.

Success came in looking closer for gems this sleepy village offers, and more importantly,

I ventured many a mile within.

The most mundane of haven’t-yets caused stomach churns, brought up old stories, raced the heart in embarrassment, satisfied a curiosity and expressed joy.

With no return ticket to use or deadline to make, they are never lost.

While today may not have worked according to plan, I can seize the moment for an instaventure and turn a never-before into done-that.

Living Bliss is a jump-in-with-both-feet look at where Life bumps into the everyday – whether at work, play or times in between. Bliss knows no separation in the end. From a deeper dive into the ordinary pops forward the extraordinary life we search for – and has been there waiting for us to be.

  1. Hi Lorraine,

    Powerful message!

I went from fired security guard to world traveler by seeing the wonder in seemingly mundane moments. A challenge, for sure, but my life did not change until I practiced seeing the opportunity in moments despite what my ego told me.

Fun stuff, seeing the moment for what it is, or as it is. Practicing non-judgment opens you up to all. Bliss. Yes. I became happy when the insignificant became significant, then, when it became insignificant again….if you know what I mean 😉

Sometimes we search for some grand signal or sign when it was always waiting for us, now, for our awareness to expand. Our breathing, that is the grand sign or signal to get going and enjoy life.

Thanks for the enlightening share Lorraine 🙂

    Ryan

  2. The ebb and flow of insignificant into significance back into insignificance is exactly right. And also means we get to make it new all over again. Breath is a great signal I so often overlooked. All great insights Ryan.
