Music To My Ears

Living Bliss - Over The Rainbow

Recorders and tin whistles hold a fond place in my heart. I remember back to grade four or five when the teacher took a leap of faith in expanding our musical horizons beyond the typical fare of triangles, tambourines and castanets. I can still feel the giddiness in the room as we slipped off the green corduroy bags to reveal shiny new recorders.

Our visions of sweet music met harshly with reality on those first few blows. The teacher held fast to potential and persevered through the learning pains. How I’m not sure. Earplugs, perhaps?

Time was kind. We slowly got the knack of coordinating breath and fingers to create something beyond squeak and squawk. We actually mustered together an acceptable tune or two.

Joy quietly slips in behind those memories of innocent visions and shiny new instruments.

Life Leaks

We dream of bliss and effortless flow, while day-to-day realities find their way to squealing an odd sour note or four.

Just as screeches result from blowing too hard and half covered holes, so too does Joy become over-powered or escape inadvertently through where we’re not whole.

We are Joy, the breath of Life. When aligned with our true selves, we play the sweet music of our souls by being who we really are.

But the further we stray off course, the more we become full of holes. Less-than-best clients and jobs taken because of … what? Dinners attended and projects accepted out of shoulds. Pushing harder goes nowhere fast. We move further and further away from ourselves until we feel lost or out of touch.

The path of living the Joy we already are begins with a deep breath in, letting go of what’s been, and starting over again.

Ring true and clear every day. Let go just a little, open up a bit more, and allow You to shine through in some way. Listen to what you really do know right now. Joy is not waiting to be found, but is calling to come through. Listen and follow.

Joy begins with being you.

Living Bliss is a jump-in-with-both-feet look at where Life bumps into the everyday – whether at work, play or times in between. Bliss knows no separation in the end. From a deeper dive into the ordinary pops forward the extraordinary life we search for – and has been there waiting for us to be.
