Lessons from my child. My Mother’s Day Retrospective.

mother and child babywearing toddler red blue wrap by Katie m. Berggren

Happy Mother’s Day!

This post is a bit of self indulgence on my part, however as I reviewed and came up with my list of 10 favorite posts in which my daughter stars, I became incredibly present and grateful for the gift of being her mother. I think each of these posts has a marvelous lesson that you and I, mother or not, have need to be reminded. Since I will not be sending my girl over to your place to share her wise council, I hope you enjoy what you find here!

In the spirit of Mother’s Day, today’s Blogversary-apolooza giveaway is the chance to win one of Katie’s fabulous Motherhood prints. The details on how to enter are at the end of the post.

  1. I would adore to win one of her prints – I am a childbirth educator and this would be the perfect addition to my teaching space!

My website for teaching Hypnobabies explains why I believe “world peace” starts with birth and parenting our children. Motherhood is the ultimate catalyst in my life. These beautiful prints speak to me deeply.

  2. Alex says:

Lovely post, Kathy. I also love the #stuff your girl says! I think we would all be wise to listen more to what our children have to say and let them take the lead more often (can someone repeat that to me later today!).

  3. That painting is gorgeous! Since I’m a contributor to your Blogversary, I’d rather not enter, but I do want to share why I love my mom 😀

She works tirelessly and selflessly to keep the household running (which is difficult with so many kids running around). She taught me to be a good and caring person, and I think that’s priceless!

  4. BEAUTIFUL print… I would give this to my Mom! My Mom is my mother and forever friend. She gifted me with great love, and how to live with a heart wide open for giving and receiving. :o)

  5. I’d love to win a copy of the print, not to remind me how special my mum is, I am reminded of that every time I think of her, but to remind myself that not only are my parents special and my children special – but that I am too, a child to one (no matter how old I am) and a parent to the other.

  6. I love my mom because she has always, always made it known, without a shadow of a doubt, that all of us (4) kids are loved and cherished by her. Even when we had some rough patches, I still knew she loved me and believed in me. She always played pretend games with us as kids, and cultivated our wonder and awe for the world. She always encouraged (and shared) my love of animals. She exuded love and still does. Now she tells me what a wonderful mother I am, and it makes me cry every time. I am so lucky to have grown up infused with her love, and I love her so much for doing that, especially with no example from her own abusive parents as to how to do that. She broke the cycle of abuse, and she just followed her heart and let love guide her. She is an inspiration!

  7. I would LOVE to win a Katie M. Berggren print because I so adore motherhood. I think it is the most magical journey ever, and she captures that beauty so well in her art. Also, for the past ten years, I haven’t hung art on my wall because my husband likes the look of blank walls. (I don’t get it!) But I have recently realized just how much I love having art and photos on the wall, and I know if I won a print, he’d be okay with me hanging it up! 🙂

  8. Efsun Alper says:

I love my mom, because she’s my mom, and I wouldn’t give her up for anyone else. I love that she brought me into this world, and decided to be my mom at a very young age. I love her strength, courage, intelligence, and her amazing beauty. I love how much she values education. And I love how much she loves her kids more than anything else in the world. I just love her!

  9. Efsun Alper says:

I would love to have one of these prints. They really warm my heart and remind me of the spirit of motherhood, even during the rough patches. Just beautiful!

  10. Randi K says:

I love my mom because she taught me everything I know about being a mom and still schools me daily! My mom is awesome.

  11. Randi K says:

I would love to win a print because I LOVE Katie Berggren and need more art to go with the prints I currently have! I’m an addict!

  12. I would love to win this print because it’s gorgeous! I can’t decide if I would keep it or give it to my daughter. It reminds me of both of us equally because we both love to snuggle her baby (my grandbaby).

  13. Terri S Crum says:

I love my mom because she is the most selfless person I have ever had the privilege to know. At the young age of 86 she volunteers 30+ hrs weekly for her local hospital & for our local chapter of Special Olympics. If there is someone in need you can be sure my mother is there to help out..even if it’s just lending a shoulder to cry on! If in my lifetime I become one half of the woman she is…I will have accomplished a huge feat!!

  14. Terri S Crum says:

I would love to win this print as a gentle reminder of how dear a relationship I have with my mother!

  15. Hm, I love my mom because she’s my mom. We seldom see eye to eye and I get lots of parenting advice concerning my own children. But she’s still my mom, and despite our differences she helped form me into the woman I am today.

  16. Angie says:

I love my mom for her strength. She protected us a lot as kids, but taught us to be in dependant and follow our own path.

  17. Angie says:

I love my mom for her strength. She protected us a lot as kids, but taught us to be in dependant and follow our own path. She was very supportive and excited about the arts paths that my sister and I took
