Just enough serenity

Serenity by Tamara Magnitsky

Ahhh Serenity! This week is always a breath of fresh air. Tamara finds us a pool of water in which to gaze. January pauses to enjoy:

Peace on a Sunday

by January Handl

When I move away from techno-hub bub

and toward

the vast varieties of

greens, blues and browns in

the natural world

less constricted by humanity’s

desires for more and faster,

it is almost immediate…

the calm core of the pool

of being-ness expands

to encompass, hold and support

me…

thoughts, feelings, worries

drift past,

as breath meets tide

and pulse meets seasons

and flesh meets spirit

Daily demands drop away

and though the tickling of temptations

to do

whisper now, instead of drowning out

my center’s offering of peace,

I can let go, for

full minutes at a time.

Just enough serenity

heals, rests and refills

to sustain me,

through the householder day

that awaits on the morrow

I sigh deeply, let the sunshine caress

me to the bone

and let the daydreams have their way.

What does it take to find you there? For me it is easily obtainable in the presence of a great tree. It probably does’t hurt that the air is always better there and that I find myself breathing deeper.

This week’s Bliss Initiative is to take the time to Breathe Deeper!

Doing so even for a minute or two can do wonders for finding serenity. Standing in line at the grocery store, stuck in rush hour traffic, waiting for your child to get their shoes on, while sipping morning coffee, in the shower, literally it can be done anywhere!

How about right now?

Pause for a moment right now and take a deep breath…  Feel the breath flowing in and out.

Again.

Deeply, feel the breath, in and out.

One more time.

In.   Out.

Repeat as needed through out the day and week to maintain peacefulness.
