How to Dance and Hop your way to Capriciousfancy

How often does one get to use a word like capriciousfancy?

Today I have a real treat for you! A guest post from Ms. Whimsy herself, Jennifer Ingle, known to many of us as “Just Jingle.”  If you don’t already know Jingle, I’m sure today’s post will have you hopping on over to her place immediately. I introduced her briefly on Monday but here she is sharing her her own unique brand of Whimsy Wonderfulness,

Take it away Jingle:

whim·sy    [hwim-zee, wim-]

–noun, plural -sies.

1. capricious humor or disposition; extravagant, fanciful, orexcessively playful expression: a play with lots of whimsy.

2. an odd or fanciful notion

3. anything odd or fanciful; a product of playful or capriciousfancy: a whimsy from an otherwise thoughtful writer.

So, there you have it. That is what the dictionary (specifically, Dictionary.com) has to say about whimsy. Ummmm…how much do I LOVE the use of the word CAPRICIOUS in that first definition???!!!! OH! OH! OH!!!! and OREXECESSIVELY! AND….Capriciousfancy!!!!!! FOR REALS, people…when I looked up this word I thought it would come up with some technically accurate, but HORRIBLY boring definition, and I can only try my best to tell you just how absolutely DELIGHTED I was to find such a fabulously fun and truly exuberant definition! It’s absolutely accurate and absolutely FABULOUSLY WHIMSICAL!

Let me tell you a little something about myself. I live a life of pure and utter whimsy. I truly do. I refuse to grow up. I refuse to be boring. I refuse to see the world as a super-serious place where work is the primary focus and children need to be reprimanded and colors must fall inside the lines. I. Bloody. Well. Refuse. Just say’n. I do what I must, but I do all I can to enjoy doing it. I make every moment an adventure and keep it fun!

That being the case, I laugh EVERY day. I smile. a lot. I enjoy the exuberance of children and relish in their beautifully concocted ideas that we so often forget to explore as we age. And then….I come up with my own crazy ideas! I hop. Yes…you read that correctly….I hop. Usually at least once a day and I follow my hop with a little phrase, “Everybody needs a little hop in their day!” Yes. I am 32 years old, and, on regular occasion, in public, I hop. And I LOVE IT! It makes me smile, and it often makes others around me smile, too! It’s unexpected and simply full of whimsy!

I also bring my whimsical spirit into my art – not so much on purpose, mind you, it just happens, seeing as my art is an expression of me and all. Just sa’n. You know how that goes, right? Right. K. Good. Now that we are all on the same page. OH!!!! Speaking of pages…Alice. Alice in Wonderland, that is…THAT is whimsy at it’s very best! Hmmmmm….that sort of just jumped in here, but I DID wear my glow in the dark Mad Hatter shirt the other day, so I may just have Alice on the mind. Anyway…….. back to art…..no matter what your art is, whether it be song, dance, paint, pencil, paper, clay, or other fabulous medium, whimsy often finds it’s way in if you have it in you! Before I share my fun whimsical piece with you, I want to share a quote from someone who embraces whimsy every day of her sweet little life!

I’m only here to dance!

If you are a regular here on Bliss Habits you may recognize this quote, as it is from the sweet and fabulous little girl belonging to the author of this wonderful blog! Yup, Kathy’s daughter said that and I have been embracing those words since I saw them! Isn’t that what we are ALL here for? To DANCE! I have created a piece that needs to be framed that I plan to hang in my living room with those very words on it. In addition, I created this wonderful art doll to celebrate a life where we exist to dance with and around one another in pure and utter whimsy! Because what could possibly be better?!

Let me introduce you to Miss Serendipity!

She is a whimsical spirit who loves to dance! Serendipity hears music wherever

she goes and her little feet simply cannot help but to dance to it!

She is fanciful and free and sparkles with all that is in her!

She is just here to DANCE!

Thanks for sharing my whimsy and a HUGE thanks to Kathy for letting me share with all of you!
