Finding gratitude for every gift, no matter how it shows up!

I just love how each week Tamara and January make me think of things I hadn’t yet considered…

Tamara’s clouds remind me that the clouds are flexible enough for different forms in different circumstances. The core of who they are remains the same but they present differently in different circumstances.

January suggests we do the same for ourselves:

stretching toward flexibility

As I start to stretch
and move my body
with and in resistance to
the aches
pains,
complaints,
past wounds and scars
and aging,
I remember to be
flexible
to be with what is,
to give
Time
Space
Breath
to those parts
of myself
whose voice
will be heard,
either by my open heart
Or
in unconscious protest
surprising expressions
that fuck up
my best laid plans
and dreams
unless I choose to
allow them
honor them
and frame them
with the
light of love
and gratitude
for every gift
no matter
how it shows up.

 

This week is all about FLEXIBILITY, which doesn’t mean we have to give up the core of who we are, something I sometimes feel pressed to do.  Flexibility is instead allowing, gives space to, and invites us to find gratitude (as January reminds) “no matter how it shows up!”

Flexibility – The ability to adapt and generate creative options rather than to obsess, worry and control.

This week I will be taking my lead from the clouds… how about you?

January Handl

January Handl is first and always a mother, has been a preschool teacher and parent educator for 25 years. She is currently the Director/head teacher at Gazebo Park School, and lives at Esalen Institute in Big Sur. She lives simply in awe of existence.
