Feast Upon Life

Living Bliss Under An Angel Sky

Must admit being a little crushed last Friday.

We don’t go into the city that often or have time to spare for non-essentials on the errand run.

Even with all the stars aligning to stop in, we spent far too much time justifying the indulgence in our favourite burger.

The car seemed to make the decision for us and headed in that direction on its own.

Salivating began while driving into the parking lot, but quickly turned to jaw-dropping dismay as we pulled up to the door.

The lights were out and the door locked!

There would be no burger this day. A very sad day indeed.

This burger is so good you’re apt to inhale it completely in one breath.

You have to remind yourself to slow down and experience each nuance of flavour in every bite.

Funny how a burger can turn into a true savouring moment of bliss.

Feast Upon Life

As I got into thinking more about savouring, an interesting thought came to mind.

What if observing and savouring were opposite ends of the experience spectrum?

Observing is stepping back to distance yourself from the moment and seeing the larger picture without attachment.

Savouring, on the other hand, is all about jumping full in to capture even the smallest details.

The exact same moment can be experienced in entirely two different ways.

And adding a twist creates a third by observing yourself while savouring!

The thing though about jumping in with both feet is that you have to take the bad with the good.

Savouring the bad is just as important as savouring the good.

Oh the cringing that must be happening right now.

By cutting yourself off from feeling, truly feeling, you cut yourself off experiencing Life full out.

You live in a narrow band of not much feeling at all.

Life is most exciting the further away you get from the middle.

For example, in savouring sadness, experiencing it full out, you open up to understanding more deeply how much you loved or cared.

The observation of yourself keeps you from getting caught up and lost.

You can release the sadness more quickly by its observance.

The same holds true for say joy or love.

By savouring these high energy emotions, you change and deepen the experience by bringing awareness into play.

Instead of just feeling the emotions, you become a participant able to direct and play in the moment.

Play with these tools of savouring and observing to feast on the moment.

See what Life has waiting to serve up for you!

Wednesdays are your personal invitation to look into the everyday, as well as the philosophical, in order to see where we’re already Living Bliss. As the Life we seek becomes part of our normal day-to-day, we can easily forget we’ve found ourselves as we work, live and play.
