This has been a wonderful, amazing, awesome few days. Yes, I am using all of those adjectives because there are not enough to describe the totality of the experience.

I became a grandmother. My son lives far away in Ontario, Canada and the baby was born while I was at L’dara conference in Phoenix, Arizona.

My son called me immediately and I heard her cry. Yes, I now have a granddaughter after raising two wonderful boys. I see much shopping for girly things in my future! As soon as I heard her cry I began to cry-spontaneous tears of joy, erupted.

It caught me by surprise. There is nothing to compare it to. It does not match my experience of becoming a mother. It is different and I don’t know how to explain that to you. It seems that only another grandmother would understand. I apparently have joined the club!

How soon could I visit-how soon could I see more than just photos, which despite being sweetness incarnated are just not enough! How long would it be before I could personally welcome her to planet earth?

Then I remembered, Skype. I have technology at my fingertips that allows me to be face-to-face with her sooner rather than later.

I personally am in gratitude for the creativity of the minds that envisioned Skype, Facetime and video conferencing in all of it’s many configurations.

Creativity is often only linked to artists and musicians. We often overlook the creativity that abounds in other sectors.

Scientists are creative even if they can be very left-brain; it is the right brain creativity that births new concepts.

Engineers are creative. They envision new roads, new buildings, new infrastructure and we use all of it oblivious of the creative minds that conceived them.

Mothers are creative. Who else could corral a group of children through a daily routine with all of the demands that entails and still remain sane?

Grandmothers are creative-we have to be if we want to carve a special place in our grandchild’s life.

So, it would seem that creativity abounds all around us. It is the ability to slip from our logical left-brain into our flexible right brain and allow for soulutions and inspiration to bubble up. Then we can dip back into our left-brain and which will help us institute the next step until we get stuck and they we dip into our right brain for more inspiration.

Back and forth we can go, dancing our way into something different that allows us to find exactly what we need to find. Sometimes it is a quick two-step and more often it is a more complicated waltz.

But, dear ones you have to allow yourself the flexibility to dip in and out of different mindsets until you find your next step.

The trick to creativity is to understand that you are creative in different ways. We also want you to know that with practice you can enhance your creativity. With allowance you can enhance your creativity-in whatever way that means to you.

Putting yourself in a box and declaring yourself uncreative will block the extra creativity that is available to you. Do you really want to do that?

Wouldn’t you rather dance your way through the challenges inherent in living on planet earth? Wouldn’t you rather be the one who comes up with a simple soulution to a challenge than trip over all of the negative what ifs and it has never been done that way before?

We know that you would.

You are all so very creative. If you were not you wouldn’t have had the desire to be on planet earth. It is a planet that demands creative soulutions to the challenges and changes that you face now. You said to us-I want to be there!

And so you are.

Now, here is a little hint for you; joy makes it easier-far easier.

You are a magnificent beings of light and love-do it now!

  1. Congratulations on your new family member!! Kids really do bring out the creativity in us and re-ignite that spark of imagination. She is lucky to have you as a grandma and a creative influence in her life.
