I wonder when the world will remember that we are all one? I wonder when we will remember that we have infinite possibilities available to us?

Our world is appearing to fall apart, but what if it were falling apart in order to fall together?

I have been wondering about gun laws. The media is filled with information for and against amending legislations surrounding gun ownership.

I live in Canada and to me it seems to me to be a no brainer. Get rid of guns. Easy, peasy right?

No it isn’t, because many people believe it is their right to bear arms. Against what? Other people bearing arms? That part of the constitution was written for another time and place.

Okay-you see my story by now. But I have another story and it is true. There was a little boy in Newtown that didn’t want to go to school two weeks before the shooting. He was terrified of being there. His mother ended up listening and letting him stay home. He returned after the shooting and was fine again.

Cool mom to listen to her son’s awareness. So what if our safety was also our awareness of the world around us? What if when our awareness said to get out of dodge, we listened? What if we listened to our children when they didn’t want to do something-really listened and honored them by that consideration? What if you could do that for yourself too?

“Each of you has built in awareness-spidey senses if you will-and when they begin to tingle, it would be wonderful for you if you could stop and moment and ask “What is this?”

Each of you remembers a time when you should have listened to your intuition and didn’t and each of you remembers a time when you listened and were very glad that you did!

Dear ones-the times are a changing. You are changing with those times. There is a grand awakening unfolding on planet earth and you are part of that. It is time for you to honor the other part of you that is aware of your world around you. It will get you out of dodge, it will help you pick a winner, it will let you know when to call someone….the list is endless.

Practice cementing your awareness of your awareness into your being. Give yourself a shout out when you notice!

You are all magnificent beings of light and love-really all of you are-even the ones that you don’t think are, are!

Put that in your pipe and smoke it……just kidding…no smoking going on over here! ”

*** Note from Kathy. Today’s art completely touched me. Paired with Linda’s words “Cool mom to listen to her son’s awareness” and considering my own daughter and the wonder, awareness and intuition I want her to celebrate, well I’m pretty much mush over here!

Katie had this to say about her painting:

As I worked on this painting, the more it became about the mother protecting the older child, vs. protecting the baby or toddler: the more easily sheltered. Watching over the school age child as he goes out into the world. Beginning his school years; tucked into the day to day, 6-hours-a-day, 5-days-a-week schedule. He is removed from his family and his mama, vulnerable to all that is out there.

When I watch my six year old sleep, I sometimes cry ~ wondering the thoughts that he thinks – he is so smart. I wonder if inside he is confused, wondering how I could have always been there, and then all of the sudden send him off for six hours a day. He is a bright star, a sensitive, emotional, talented and change-the-world kind of boy.

What does “getting used to” the way-it-is mean? As our children start to see us less and less do they start to wonder more and more our priorities? Here is a promise I silently make to my sleeping and growing child:

I promise to everyday look into your face ~ into your eyes ~ to read your story. To take each day 15 minutes at a time and never assume that all is well unless you tell me it is so. I promise to listen, I promise to share. I promise to be there for you as we discover your route into this world of possibilities.

All this “Promise” and possibility has put me in the mood for a giveaway!! If you are a longtime follower of Bliss Habits, you know that Katie is one of my favorite artists. 1. What an absolutely beautiful piece of art and the story behind it was wonderful! Thankyou Katie for being you and allowing your child to be them! Spread the word!

The first time I saw Katie’s work was before I had (or was even pregnant with our son)… I thought it was amazing! However, I truly did not UNDERSTAND the depth of her work until I first looked into my son’s eyes, then I really felt it. The first time I saw her painting “Crush” after I had him I cried…
She captures feelings that can’t be described in words, so well. I would love to have her work all over my house as reminder when things get hectic of the beauty in being a mom <3

    • It is amazing the part of us that opens up when we have children. A whole new world becomes apparent. Who would have thought that love could be so immense?
      Enjoy your day Katie!

  3. Kait B says:

I try to take sometime each day to meditate and reflect, this helps me really “listen” to my intuition and lead myself rather than focus too much on what others are saying. It is a work in progress, of course 🙂

    • It is there just waiting for us to notice and by the noticing we do become more practiced at noticing 🙂
It isn’t meant to be hard and often is easier when we just be-so just be who you be!

  4. Karen B says:

Because I’m a Mum! My children are mostly grown up now, but I remember when they first began nursery/school – the wrench because now I/we were not their whole lives. From then on, there would be a part of their lives that we did not know about and would not have shared. Yet even now, when they are 27, 22 and 14 respectively, I still want to protect them – to be able to wrap my arms around them and tell them that everything will be all right, because I can fix it!

    • Hey Karen,
I too have two grown boys-35 & 25. One of them loves to rock climb and climb mountains. He and a friend were wanting to summit a mountain but they “felt” the snow pack was too unstable and decided not to even though they really, really wanted too!
I am glad that he listens to his awareness and I congratulated on that. That is the best gift we can give our kids is that they know best if they but listen and pay attention to their own gut, their own intuition-sometimes hard to do when you just want to keep them safe and fix it all 🙂

  5. Karen B says:

Earlier this week, my soul gave me a message about how my world would be enriched if I could find a way to work with birds of prey – that’s an intuition I intend to listen to!

  6. Oo, oo, oo, I want one!! These prints are so beautiful and speak to me on such a deep level as a mother. Also I am a childbirth educator and what a perfect addition this would be to my teaching space!

  7. ok, bonus entries now. 😉 How will I listen to my intuition? This is a hard question for me for some reason. I think maybe because I am doing it a lot just by living the life I am and the choices we’ve made so far. The story about the little boy is just amazing. I think by listening to our children we can actually get better at listening to our own intuitions, because they are so natural at it. AND crazily enough, the word I chose for 2013 is LISTEN! wow. I guess I’m going to focus more specifically on listening to my own intuition. I’ve been doing that a lot with my writing – following my intuition about what to write, and when.

Thanks for the thought provoking post!
