Welcome to Bliss for Business! If you’re an entrepreneur, small business owner, or career-driven individual, tune in on Wednesdays to join Dani on an adventure to learn how to bring your work life in harmony with the thirteen Bliss Habits.

I am freshly back from an almost 3-week sojourn in the woods. New and old friends, fires and spiritual experiences, guitars and drums and silliness and peace. (And no internet!)
As I began to walk this transition from the world of what was to the space of what is, I felt trapped. Obligated. Because shouldn’t I have some magical words of wisdom to impart after this journey? Shouldn’t I have brought back countless lessons and profound thoughts to share?
There is so very much spinning through my head, thoughts that I have no doubt will take months to unpack. And so I felt, at first, that I had nothing to share.
But as I sat down this morning to post the article I had originally written for Hope week, I realized that hope is what came home with me. Hope is in the dirty laundry and the damp bedclothes and the mosquito bites and the sunburn and the dried grass that I seem to be finding everywhere.
So it’s that hope I’m here with instead. (And a bit late as a consequence – sorry, Kathy!)

“Hope is what makes us strong. It is why we are here. It is what we fight with when all else is lost.”
~Pandora (yes, that one)

Hope can be a really awkward thing. We often want it. We know we should have it. But it’s incredibly easy to lose in stacks of overdue bills and looming deadlines.
And by the time we need it, it seems like it’s nowhere to be found.
But hope is a monster, in a Mike-and-Sully (or Snuffleupagus) kind of way. It’ll be there for you, when you need it, but you have to take care of it. Feed it. Nurture it. Provide proper conditions for it to grow.
Because when you need it most, you need it to be there, soft and cushy and ready to help.
Because the difference between “oh, crap, I have bills to pay and no clients” and “oh, crap, I have bills to pay and will call that lead from a few weeks back” is hope.
Because the difference between “I don’t know what I’m doing” and “I don’t know what I’m doing yet” is hope.
So when the good things happen, bank them. Tuck them away so you can pull them out in times of need. Let them sit, feeding your hope, waiting to bring sunshine back to your world.
Because what is hope, if not the firm belief that “better” does exist?
Give yourself that. You deserve it.
