Change In Heart

Living Bliss - Head In The Clouds

I like to think of myself as someone who embraces and invites change, willing to move with the flow, unstopped by the unknown.

Then a memory flashes to mind –

how cranky was I when the grocery store did a total rearrangement of sections and shelves.

No more shopping on autopilot.

Or how I continued to shop at same said store after moving another half hour away.

Dare I mention a second of many locations only 10 minutes down the road?

What about sporting the same wash-n-wear haircut for over a decade.

Except, of course, for the year left to grow out. Day 365 saw even the hairdresser happy to pull out the scissors.

A fall coat is from 1989 while the winter one is circa 2002. Sorel snow boots still going strong since 1990 too.

We’ll not mention which decade the living room furniture first entered the house.

But I once accepted a two year field assignment sight unseen.

Worked as both an employee and consultant before shifting paths entirely.

I’ve left jobs with nothing to follow but a “time to go”.

Moving to an entirely new city was no sweat despite only five days to find a place to live.

What gives?

Clothes, furniture and hair are easily explained – all work wonderfully until worthwhile replacements are found. Function rules fashion in my world.

Natural Change

But a shuffled shelf or ten trips me up?

The answer oh so obvious now.

Mind versus heart of course.

Predictable, orderly, reliable, doable, controllable – elements for the mind to place trust and make sense of the world.

Opposites, however, for the heart who trusts in flow, alignment, possibility and growth. Sense comes from taking in what’s appearing and becoming more fully who you are.

Minds learn to thrive in the world of the heart.

Hearts become dormant when ruled by the mind.

In melding heart and mind, change is natural, a process, intended to be.

Not something to be feared, controlled or kept at bay.

The dance of Life fully engaged takes hold for lifetime.

Living Bliss is a jump-in-with-both-feet look at where Life bumps into the everyday – whether at work, play or times in between. Bliss knows no separation in the end. From a deeper dive into the ordinary pops forward the extraordinary life we search for – and has been there waiting for us to be.
