Linda Adsetts and The Group are here with their weekly Go for the Joy message. Enjoy!

What I like best about writing for Bliss Habits are the weekly themes. I find myself musing upon the theme, thinking back upon my life and what it is like now. I am searching for inspiration. What does thrift mean to me?
Thrift, thrifty, thriftiness are the concepts that I grew up with. My parents had five children, my mom was a stay at home mom and my dad was a school teacher. Thriftiness was second nature in our world.
Money was not spent easily on non-essentials when we were young. Even though I was the oldest, at a certain age my mother’s clothes fit me and I remember a particular coat that was handed down to me. Fortunately my mother had a sense of style and I wasn’t embarrassed to wear it.
As I got older I gained my father’s approval by being thrifty. One of my brothers was the opposite. He loved nice things and spending money on them. Strangely enough, or maybe not so strange, he is the one with the most money out of all the siblings.
Over the years, as my income has grown, I have become less thrifty. I have an appreciation for nice things and sometimes I get some very good deals on them! However, I will not at this point in my life be thrifty in the grocery store. As we go along in our life thriftiness takes on a new meaning. I am content with a second hand car, be it a very nice, low mileage car but I am not content to clip coupons to save money. That brings me no satisfaction nor joy. (smile)
No matter how much money a person makes, for most of us, there are aspects of life that we are thrifty in through necessity or habit or conscious choice. I choose conscious choice. At 56 years old I pretty much know what is important to me and what isn’t. I am not saying it is written in stone, that would be foolish on my part. Never say never is my motto. I could become a spendthrift! Is that an oxymoron? It seems like it might be!
Sometimes, people are thrifty through a ingrained poverty consciousness, even when they needn’t be. That isn’t a conscious choice and it can trip you up along the way. You can end up denying yourselves pleasurable experiences that are only available through spending a bit of money or sometimes a good chunk of it. I for example, am beginning to experience what it is like to spend money on weekend getaways. I have discovered the unexpected pleasures that accompany the adventures.
I have taken one stand that is written in stone; I have recently, consciously decided that I will never, ever, ever, ever,(did I say never ever), at no point in time, will I ever again be thrifty with my affections, praise, kindness and generosity of spirit and I will not be thrifty with love.
Our world is an ever expanding world and within that we get to choose everyday what is truth for us. However, if we are choosing from an old ingrained habit, from a place that doesn’t reflect where we are, this moment in time, we do ourselves a disservice. We end up cutting ourselves off from the infinite possibilities that exist waiting to be claimed by us. Everything is sitting just over there waiting to be invited in.
If you choose to grown your own vegetables in order to save money that you have to spend on vegetables and that is the only reason you do it, where is the pleasure? But, if you grow your own vegetables because it gives you great pleasure to muck around in the dirt and savour your harvest, that is a whole different ballgame! It feels lighter and joyous!
Anywhere where you choose being thrifty because it creates a sense of spaciousness in our lives is a good thing and anywhere we choose to be thrifty from a sense of lack, will just create more lack. It is all in your intent and your conscious choice.
Anywhere where you choose being thrifty in love, kindness and affection for any being that is in your life you contract your world. Love is expansive and it is non judgmental. It excludes nothing and encompasses everything. When you surrender to the that knowing, that remembrance that every single one of you carry within your very being, your world will become heaven on earth. It is all just waiting for you. The veils are being lifted and sooner than you know your world will reflect a new way of being.
There is more than enough on your planet for everyone. There is no need to be thrifty because you fear never having enough because in the doing of that you will just create more of that! But you get to choose dear friends. Life on planet earth is quite the experience and we watch in joyous love at the many expressions that are being played out. It is all bringing you home, where we will joyously welcome you, but that is a long way off for most of you. Planet earth is the place to be, many are on a waiting list to get in on the fun!
We highly recommend that thriftiness of spirit be deleted from your systems and that you make the most of it and of course….
