Happy Thanksgiving… A poem, #gratitude and other tidbits for you!

“Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of honest men,
but be careful that you do not take the day and leave out the gratitude.”
~E.P. Powell

On this Thanksgiving Day, I wish to say that I am honored to have you in my life.  Thank you so much for joining me on my Bliss Habits Journey. I wish you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving day. I’ve gathered some celebratory tidbits in honor of the occasion, including my A-Z list of 130+ things I am thankful for here.  I do hope you will enjoy!

Our Bliss Habits poet (see these posts for more of her poems!)  has these words to share:

In Time for Thanksgiving
by January Handl

Every so often
The world catches my breath
With a beauty that
Aches with tenderness
And filigreed perfection

The sacred inner geography
Becomes manifest in
The sacred outer geometry

And a dew-diamond
Sparkle of spider’s web
Or
salt-sprayed moment with
the ocean’s heaving breath
Or
a cloud -swirled sunset that captures
any human with eyes to see
on its rose- colored horizon
or
the majesty of rock and tree,
root, leaf, black earth woven into
an arrangement of wondrous
multi-layered awe
or
A butterfly’s graceful glide
Coincides with a tiny hand
On my cheek
Or
a warm word of earnest
Respect or connection
Saves my heart from
Fear- freezing over
Or a drift of dancing-heart
Music pulls my spirit
To a bird’s-ear view
Or heavenly held chorus

And I allow myself
To truly touch
To openly embrace
To willingly surrender
to
My core-deep gratitude
For such a perfect gift
As the grace of
this present moment

I saw this on a sports blog called The Big Picture, and it made me chuckle so I thought I would share it. They thought they would rank Thanksgiving food! What would be your ranking? Turkey would be lower on my list and I can’t believe they didn’t have some apple pie, although I do like the pumpkin cheesecake idea! If the green beans have those crunchy onion things on them I would move them higher too! I particularly like that they distinguished two types of cranberries. Does anyone really bother with salad??

1. Stuffing
2. Gravy
3. Sweet potatoes with two pounds of butter and brown sugar
4. Turkey
5. Pumpkin cheesecake
6. Pumpkin pie
7. Pecan pie
8. Mashed potatoes
9. Jello-like cranberries
10.Fruit
11. Squash soup
12. Biscuits
13. Other cranberries
14. Green beans
15. Salad
