Are you culturally convinced?

Ahh REST week! Much needed eh? Doesn’t Tamara’s gorgeous photo transport you to that restful moment?

It is funny, every time rest week rolls around I become acutely aware of how important it is to take time for it. It is just that it is oh so easy to wrapped up in the business of life. We are asked, “How are you today?” and we reply, “Busy!” like it is some sort of badge of honor. Would you even think of answering “Not doing a thing!” or “I’m planning a nap .” ?

January invites us to consider:

Time to Wait
by January Handl

When it can it does.
Nature does,
it rests.
Pauses for a milenniam and no time,
and begins again
toward growth.

You see it in the
amazing unfolding and life,
of season and storm,
of puppie and kitten,
of baby to adult,
of adult to old age.

Beginning, blossoming
Blooming
Becoming
All take focus,
Attention
Energy
Life force

So
help me remember
when I’m culturally convinced
that I am lazy if I am
Not doing,
Bored if I am not
Barraged by input,
or not engaged unless
Engaged in a virtual rendition
of what could be available
in real time and space
and
Uncertainty.

Sleep
Dream
Doze
Become wandering of the
Mind
Heart
Soul
and hear
the inner
Voice
that whispers
Sleep
for now,
Rest.

Yes! “for now, Rest.” This week your Bliss Initiative is to take off the shackles of your cultural busyness and take time for rest. True rest. A restorative stopping of busy.

How about starting now?
